Waconda Lake & Glen Elder State Park
Glen Elder is the home of Waconda Lake.   A stone's throw to the west from the community's backdoor, Waconda Lake, Glen Elder Dam,  and the State Park & Wildlife Area comprise one of Kansas' most scenic and popular outdoor attractions.  Located in north central Kansas in the heart of the Solomon River Valley,  Waconda Lake is located within close visual range of U.S. Highway 24.  It is 12 miles west of Beloit, Kansas, and just east of Cawker City, Kansas.

Glen Elder, Waconda Lake and Glen Elder State Park await your arrival. Visitor friendly, the reservoir's swimming, camping, boating, hunting, and fishing areas are easily accessed.  Here, you can see for miles in all directions. Plus, you will see some of the most spectacular sunsets that America has to offer.

One of the Kansas' premier hunting and fishing locations, the Glen Elder Wildlife Area consists of 13,000 land acres and 12,586 water acres.    The lake and area are also rich in history and legend which extend into the lake's namesake -- Waconda.  Becoming familiar with Waconda's heritage will make your stay richer.  No matter what your taste, our  back yard is bound to please you with a memorable outdoor experience.
Waconda Lake serves 21,000 acres through out the Solomon Valley for irrigation, and provides substantial municipal water supply, recreation, fish and wildlife conservation, and pollution abatement benefits.
