  • Recycling 1 aluminum can can save enough energy to power a TV for up to 3 hours or run a 100-watt bulb for     20 hours – the equivalent of a half-gallon of gasoline.

  • Recycling 125 aluminum cans saves enough energy to power one home for 1 day.

  • If every American recycled just one-tenth of their newspapers, we would save about 25,000,000 trees a year.

  • Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy and 7000 gallons of water.  This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60% less air pollution.

  • The amount of wood and paper we throw away each year is enough to heat 50,000,000 homes for 20 years.

  • Each month, we throw out enough glass bottles and jars to fill a giant skyscraper.

  • It can take up to 700 years for plastic to decompose.

  • By using plastic in packaging, American product manufacturers save enough energy each year to power a city of 1 million homes for 3 years.

  • Recycling 1 ton of plastic can save 1-2 thousand gallons of gas.
