Sponsors of the annual
Glen Elder Fun Day

The Glen Elder Lions’ Club was chartered on April 12, 1988, with 56 charter members. The Hunter, Kansas, Lions’ Club was the sponsor.

The club’s highlights include cooperative efforts with the Community Club to bring activities to Glen Elder Fun Day.  Included are a fun run, children’s games, and coordination of the evening talent show.  In August, the Glen Elder Lions’ Club, along with the Downs Club, sponsors the Student Appreciation Event for students of USD 272.  Personal dictionaries are given each year to all 3rd grade students at Glen Elder Attendance Center.  In addition, Glen Elder Lions take tickets at home football and basketball games at Lakeside School in Downs.  Starting in 2010, the Glen Elder Lions present scholarships to qualifying high school seniors with a Glen Elder address.

Among our major fund raisers is the annual Tractor Cruise; the proceeds from it go to support youth with diabetes to attend summer diabetes camp.

The Lions’ motto is “We Serve”; therefore, the Glen Elder Lions serve people less fortunate than themselves.

If you enjoy serving and helping others, the Lions are always looking for new members, and you would be most welcome to visit our club.
